  • Therapy is a part of psychological care. Other aspects include education, collaborative care-planning, consultation and training.

Therapy is a combination of support, learning and skill development designed to help you manage your emotional, mental, and psychological well-being.

Therapy is especially useful when facing physical health challenges such as pelvic pain or hormonal changes.

At Liz Patton and Associates, working with a psychologist can help you learn about the nervous system and what psychological strategies you can incorporate into practice that can positively impact your overall health and function. These strategies include evidence-based approaches to help reduce stress and worry, re-engage in meaningful activities and relationships, find your self-identity, and improve physical health outcomes.

  • A Safe and Confidential Environment

Therapy is voluntary. While we may collaborate with other health professionals you see, your therapy sessions are private and confidential. Therapy offers a space to express your thoughts and feelings—whether related to pelvic pain, hormonal shifts, or other health concerns - in a safe and respectful environment.

    Listening and Understanding

Active listening is central to therapy. Using a holistic approach, your psychologist will help you explore how your physical health may be affecting your emotions and behaviour. Therapy also supports increased self-awareness and personal growth, which are important aspects of healing.

    Time-Limited, Collaborative Goal Setting

In therapy, you’ll work together with your psychologist to identify goals that reflect both emotional and physical well-being. We’ll focus on what can be achieved within your sessions at Liz Patton and Associates and, if needed, help you connect with longer-term support. Whether it's managing pain for everyday activities or navigating mood changes related to hormonal shifts, a shared commitment to therapy helps in reaching these goals.

    Learning Psychological Concepts and Tools

You will learn about Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and related concepts to help understand your concerns, along with practical coping strategies based in contextual-behavioural science.
